When I see moments of happiness in the slums, I savor them. I try to remember these times when things get harder, which they inevitably do.
In June and July, I staffed for the Global Urban Trek- the very trip that brought me to Manila in the first place back in 2008. And they were such a fun bunch of people to be around. We prayed with and for each other, we asked (and tried to answer) difficult questions about God, poverty, and social justice, we lived among the urban poor in Metro Manila for a month…but, as you can see…we also had a lot of fun together :P
It was such a blessing to spend lots of time with these three beautiful ladies. Here we are enjoying a yummy meal at a turo-turo. The dude in the back is clearly jealous of how awesome they are.
