I had promised Rutchie and Beth that I’d stay overnight at Payatas for the past couple weeks, but things just kept coming up. Until yesterday.
I was pretty excited- I hadn’t been back to Payatas since the end of the Trek in August, and I missed the kids there.
When I first saw Airah and Aifah, it went something like this:
“Saan si Ate Jennifer?”
“Sa States”
“Saan si Ate Kat?”
“Sa States rin.”
“Saan si Ate Jessica?”
“Ai…sa Taiwan siya.”
“Saan si Ate Lynn?”
“Sa States rin. Ako lang dito sa Pilipinas.”
There’s Aifah! Her hair has gotten longer and she’s a little bit bigger than she was the last time I saw her. And then of course, we played our favorite game:
“BC Apple Lemon Juice
Tell me the name of your sweetheart…”
I forgot the rest of the song. But Airah won, and she squeezed my hands super hard while asking me:
“SINO CRUSH MO?!?! SI DINGDONG O SI NICK?!?!”
I said I had a crush on Dingdong. I don’t know who Nick is. I think she was referring to someone else…somebody that I used to have a crush on. But maybe not.
At Rutchie’s house, she’d put up the framed picture that Jen and I took with her and her family:
Toto says hi. But he’s kinda shy.

Then in the morning, I bought Ube Hopia from Mercury Drug for Rutchie, Beth, and myself. And it made me think of you and miss you more than ever, Jen, Kat and Jess. I hope you guys are doing well =)
